Drafting of the story:

                                                                           A day at the beach

Beginning of the story:
Once upon a time there lived a young girl called Sally.  She was on her school holidays and felt rather bored, so she decided to ask her friend Jack to come over so that they could go to the beach.

Off went Sally to Jacks house to ask his mum if he could come with her.  After his mum said that he could come, they packed up some things to take with them. They took a tent, bucket and spade, some lunch, a baseball and bat and headed off.

Middle of the story:
It was a beautiful sunny day and the sun was bright and the clouds made it nice and warm.  They set up their tent and were about to make some sandcastles when “Oh, no.  I’ve left your bucket at home”, Sally said “what are we going to do?” said Jack.
“You can have the bucket and spade first to build a sandcastle and then I can have them” replied Sally.                                                                                                                                                                                 “Thank you” said Jack. He started to build a sandcastle and then he gave it to Sally so she could build her castle.
Problem:
After a while they were both getting rather hungry.  Jack pulled out his lunch and discovered that he had only one apple and one piece of cake. He had forgotten to bring his sandwiches. “Oh no” said Jack, “what are you going to do?  Too bad, you forgot to bring your food with you.”

Conclusion of the story:

All of a sudden a little angel appeared and said “Wait a minute, what did Sally do when she left your bucket  behind?” said the angel.                                                                                                                                                                                                                    “Well she shared the bucket and spade with me and let me have the first go of making sandcastles,” said Jack.                                                                                                                                                                                                         “That’s right” the angel said. “so what should you then do about the food?”
